The Discovery Years (1991 - 2004)

Introduction

gold ornamental design 05

More than just a catalog or portfolio, this collection of drawings and paintings represents the earliest stage of my creative development, where I ultimately discovered a language that could express what often seemed beyond words.

More importantly, however, this body of work also represents my earliest expeditions into the unconscious, where the raw and clumsy process of "becoming" has been exposed; not just as an artist, but as an individual as well; both of whom (as separate personas) were still wrestling with notions of identity.

So, I am excited to finally give this body of work some long overdue LOVE. This is my foundation, after all, and most of this artwork has never been seen outside my studio or collectors' homes, until now (in 2023).

Sadly, however, this collection also only accounts for a

small portion of my Early Works, because most of what was created prior to 1991 was simply lost or destroyed, along with the missing pieces from this time period (1991 - 2004).

Nonetheless, for the curious visitor who is adventurous enough to go exploring, I think you'll find that this life-long affair, which started with a pencil and sheet of paper, has been faithfully translated in its chronological presentation, along with detailed descriptions, providing insight into the imagery's development, meaning and purpose.
