Surrealism
Description:
The Uneventful Dream was my first foray into oil painting and, after mixed experiences with acrylics, was a more thorough examination of the medium's character and temperament, as I was still searching for a compliment, in application, to the techniques I'd developed with the pencil. And, luckily... I found that familiarity here.
Nonetheless, I call this moment "uneventful" because the work was composed without any attempt at constructing a narrative. There is neither a beginning nor an end to this account; but instead, like a dream, it is only a half-recognizable glimpse into something that remains hidden inside the mind.
Objectively, this surreal dreamscape was produced as a meditation, purely focused on the processes of mixing color, applying paint and blending patchwork imagery into a seamless spectacle.
Although, psychologically, The Uneventful Dream became a bridge between a dormant dream-state and lucid dreaming, where metacognition was awakened and utilized to bring even my most recent (and current) work to life.
