Description:
If not the earliest, this impressionistic painting is at least one of my earliest landscapes and is a recreation of a photo, captured roadside on a texas highway (somewhere between Austin and Lubbock).
I hadn't ventured into the natural world yet, equipped with paints and brushes. So, as I retrace these early steps in my creative journey, this is another great example of deliberate practice, much like Elusive Beauty, where I am forcing myself out of my comfort zone for the sake of learning.
Although, out of kindness to myself (as well) I also often pursued new subject matter loosely, at first; perhaps (unconsciously) as a direct reflection of my lack of experience with the subject; but also, to aid in the observation, allowing me to explore the subject in broad strokes, before diving into details (later).
