To set the stage for this painting, I'd originally imagined a warm sunset with soft clouds, appearing like quiet thoughts swimming in an ocean of memory. But, I still wasn't familiar enough with oils to create the dreamy effect I'd envisioned.

As a consequence, my unconfident execution of the anthropomorphic rock face and watery foreground are noticeably tentative, resulting in a flat and muddied surface that only hints at what I imagined.

Nonetheless, Sleeping Landscape is a fun concept that I may revisit at some point, which is why I chose to include it as part of this catalog.
