Description:

This jarring, but simplistic rendering of a distorted humanlike figure, decapitating a baby duck, is probably best described as a sensory projection, rather than a portrait of myself. Although, the surreal figure in this painting is undeniably me (in an emotional state).

Killing a Duck represents the distortion I experienced during an unfortunate event, after our family dog broke a duckling's neck while playing.

It was a mercy killing, of course, because I didn't want to see this beautiful living creature suffer. And, I didn't want to simply dump it in the trash, saving only myself the agony of watching. So, I took it upon myself to ease its pain.

In this dramatic moment, I couldn't remember anything but the impressions of the act itself, which made me feel unreal. And, this painting was created immediately after, as a release and register of this foreign feeling.
