Description:
I won't dive too deeply into the details of this painting, because so much of it is really beyond words.
More importantly, as a whole, the imagery depicted certainly provides enough clues that a simple preface will set your viewing experience in the right direction.
In essence, this seemingly dark and surreal scene was actually an expression of gratitude, composed like a weighty love letter, during an emotionally challenging time in my life.
Grace, who can be seen on the right, was nothing but light. And, she was my first love; a relationship that was built on friendship and trust, and one that taught me that true intimacy can exist without our bodies (without sex).
I won't say that she saved me; because, I wasn't broken.
But, if you've done your due dilegence and have explored these descriptions, you'll understand what I mean when I say that I just needed proof.
And, I can only hope that I gave enough back in return.
Of course, I'll never know if she wanted more from me, because of my own timidity at the time; or, because our relationship seemed perfect to me, as it was, that I never stopped to read the signs.
Either way... if I never said it then... "I certainly hope you know how much you meant to me, Grace; and that you were seen (as a real person), felt (through your love and friendship), desired (for your intoxicating feminine energy and undeniable beauty), trusted (for your honesty), admired (for your courage and enthusiasm) and appreciated (for simply being who you are, unapologetically)."
