Description:
If you understand the meaning of the word Apprehension, then you understand the feeling that this painting is intended to convey.
Although, to help paint this picture in your mind, the way I've experienced it...
The red arm in this image is an emphatic "No".
Although, that "No" is also a silent one that is then followed by a sense of remorse, depicted in the woman's blue body; a feeling of selfishness, for not "giving" (in any context, not just sexually).
This is the conflict that then leads to further uncertainty, as expressed in the melting head, where I/we/one then starts to question whether the decision to withhold is right or wrong.
And of course... there is no resolution present here.
