A Harsh Reality, Exposed
1994

Medium:
Oil on Canvas
Dimensions:
36 x 24 inches
Genre/Style:
Expressionism
Description:
Similar to An Involuntary Blindness, this loosely rendered painting is another great example of the unconscious trying to inform me of what I couldn't see in real-life experiences.
However, in this private moment, we get to see the other side of my anxiety, after finally securing the interest I so desperately desired.
Here, I found myself in the grips of performance anxiety, now feeling inadequate because of my lack of experience, which only added "squandered opportunities" to my growing list of emotional scars.
