As one of my earliest expeditions into the unconscious, the title for this expressionistic portrait purely emerged from its surface (at the time of creation); because, although inspiration animated my brush, that same impulse was still only able to produce hints of a narrative, with little detail (hence, the ambiguity).
However, through the lens of hindsight, I now can't help but see this piece as a possible foretelling, during this early stage of creative development. It is the foretelling of an emotional journey through the mysteries of the Self (the world within) which is conveyed here as a mountain that must be climbed.
*** IMPORTANT NOTE ***
This painting has severely yellowed (as seen in the second image) and will continue to yellow as an unfortunate consequence of improper varnishing (using Liquin). So, as an alternative, archival prints of the original (before yellowing) are also available.
