As an interpretive work of art, I can't help but see this image as a reminder of the influence we truly have, in shaping our life experience; a reminder that we have been furnished with the capacity to direct our own emotional energy, regardless of what is happening around us, or within our own lives.

So, despite the frantic application of paint and pencil marks in this piece, which certainly create a sense of uneasy desperation, the challenge is to see past the obvious and to find the light, which is also present.

After all, it is always up to us to choose, no matter how difficult, to either empower the negative (by letting it dictate our actions) or to eradicate it, through illumination (first to recognize the opportunity presented, and then to act).
