Description:
Whispering was a refreshing voyage into the unfamiliar process of printmaking, which is more of a tactile experience than it is critical thinking (at least for me). And, I welcomed that escape; because, at this stage of my journey, my emotions and intellect were often at odds, attempting to resolve differences regarding subject matter and the direction of my work.
So, in a very distinctive way, I see the shushing gesture in this piece as a silencing of noisy internal dialogue (a shushing of the self, rather than of the outside world). Or, at very least, it indicates a yearning for such an escape.
Either way, Whispering is what's called a Monotype, a single print pulled from a design created in oil or printing ink on glass or metal (in this case, glass). Although, thanks to digital technology, Whispering is currently available as a Limited Edition Print as well, while supplies last.
