Nighttime Reverie
1993

Medium:
White Prismacolor on Black Construction Paper
Dimensions:
11 x 8.5 inches
Genre/Style:
Surrealism (Automatism and Association)
Description:
Unlike Geo-Erotic Formations, which explored the consequences of unfulfilled yearning, Nighttime Reverie was the source of that landscape-shaping flood, a fervent longing for intimacy and affection that was depicted among other interchangeable allusions to appetite.
Still, as I was becoming more comfortable with confronting anxieties head on, my fascination with white Prismacolor on black paper also made this probing process feel more conceptual; as the "illuminated" imagination was now imposing itself onto darkness (the unknown), instead of the shadow onto light.
