Description:
At last... a piece without baggage.
Although, I'll readily admit that the unearthing of hidden baggage, in these early works, has provided the real reward for me, revisiting where I've been (both intellectually and psychologically) and finally seeing my own story unfold; how the wrestling match with the shadow (the unconscious) has healed wounds and informed my work.
But... I digress.
In essence, Ink Sketch was a study like any other study, a way of exploring and pushing boundaries. And, the loosely rendered figure in this piece was simply an attempt to convey movement and/or a sense of drama through the use of simple (unmeditated) lines.
After all, it is in the process of rendering that the work's narrative is either effectively told... or lost.
